We welcomed home trek 1039 yesterday at Owers' Corner and said goodbye to Trek 1038 as they headed out onto the trek. Trekkers in this group include :

      [*]Steve Johnson
      [*]Jason Rigby
      [*]Keren Green

An early start for them all as they were picked up around 6:30 and driven out to Bomana War Cemetery. Later they moved off and stopped at McDonald's Corner before heading to the drop off point for the commencement of their trek at Owers' Corner.

Clement Harika from Saga Village in Kokoda is their guide. Clement is seen in the photograph below on the right with another of our guides, Kingsley Boropi who decided to join them for a couple of days before turning back to wait for another trek heading out next week that he is listed for.

Clement phoned me on the sat phone earlier this afternoon to say they had reached Ofi Creek where they were camped for the night. Last night was spent at Goodwater campsite area.

Tomorrow they will head to either Naoro or Agulogo depending on how the trekkers are coping with the conditions. So far so good, everyone is fine and doing well.

Last night was spent at Agulogo. This was followed by a tough walk today through the village of Menari and a hard climb up to Brigade Hill. They pushed on further and now find themselves at the half way point of Efogi.

Clement phoned to say they were at Eora Creek. He also said trekkers wanted to walk off the track tomorrow one day ahead of their schedule. Picture them tomorrow as they head up to Alola Village. A few hours later they will walk into Isurava Memorial before heading down off the track towards Kokoda.

Approximately 10:15am this morning, this group were at the Isurava Memorial so making good time to enable them to walk off the track today per their wish instead of tomorrow morning.
