Any recommendations? Asthmatic, autistic, but other than that, no prior existing medical conditions. Needs to at the very least cover evacuation, treatment in hospital/medical assistance and loss of luggage.

Feeling a little overwhelmed with all the information out there & not sure who to go through. So far QBE looks pretty good, but would like to know who other people that have trekked (or going to trek Kokoda) have gone through.

    Phone # is 131532

I used Columbus Direct travel insurance. It cost much less than quoted above, and I did not need any extra cover for trekking in a remote area. I was covered for helicopter evacuation should I have needed it.

Thanks. We are looking into Columbus Direct and I have their website saved into my favourites.

Peter – thanks for the info on CGU. Will check them out also.

Based on experience in relation to medevac's off the track, I have found anyone who is with 'Covermore' and others that use 'Mondial Assistance' are by far the best to deal with. Their reaction time is swift; they follow up several times a day and are excellent to deal with.

Todate I have never had to use either of these two insurance companies to airlift anyone off the Kokoda Track so cannot recommend them.
