Thommo
MemberHi everyone,
Looking for some some help with choice of tent. Any thoughts on the Outer Limits Vortex tent.

MemberHi Thommo, unless you are a seasoned camper, do not spend too much on your tent as all you need is room enough for you to stretch out; an area to put your backpack to keep it out of the rain; make sure its waterproof and does not leak and does not weigh too much.
Most of our trekkers just buy a cheap tent unless per above they will use it a lot on their return.
The tent I purchased for myself was a two man Coleman tent with a fly. I zippered myself inside my tent and my backpack was just outside the tent under the fly area which worked out perfectly. I am presently in Australia but from memory it weighs a little over 2kg.
Whatever you purchase erect it and leave it in medium to heavy rain and see if it leaks. Although I have never had the need to purchase, I believe you can buy waterproofing sprays to seal any trouble spots.
Unless money is no object, splurge on your boots and lightweight clothes such as good quality thick walking socks. If you will get a lot of use out of your tent then the skys the limit as long as it has a fly to keep your pack out of the rain and in a safe place next to where you will be sleeping.
