Brian
MemberHi
I am sure that many have done so before and have overcome the problem I am lost without wearing my glasses, can do so but end up with a bad headache from doing so.
I imagine being towards the end of September when I go I am gauranted some rainy days walking and if you have worn glasses you will know exactly what I mean they do not have wind screen wipers and am a real pain in the rain as everything in ones pocket will be wet there will be nothing to wipe them with.
Wonder what problems others may have had with glasses and if so how they overcame the rain effect problem?
Be interesting to read the remedies.
By the way will carry a old second pair with as a backup.

MemberHi Brian,
I don't wear glasses, but…. As much as I'm really opposed to having to use the 'A' word on a public forum, I know Amway have (had?) a spray item for glass products that stops fogging and makes water run off glass surfaces (stops the beading and streaking). From what I've seen, it seemed to work really well. So there is something out there. I'm sure there would be similar products in general retail, or optometrists might sell something that would do the trick.

MemberHi Brian
Like you, I will also have glasses problems when I trek in June. Following Eve's advice, I asked my optometrist and she says yes, she does have something to spray on the lenses to prevent fogging. I also asked about something to stop my glasses slipping down my nose when I sweat, and she says she has pads or something for that as well.
Sorry to be a bit vague, but I saw her socially so won't be able to tell you details until after I call in at her surgery on Saturday.
Cheers, Moo

MemberJust make sure to take your lense cloth to wipe/clean your glasses. hat/ cap will keep most of rain off. I took a spare pair of glasses with me. A lanyard is a good thing so that if your glasses come off they will not be lost in river crossing etc. If you really are desperate to try something- try the same stuff that is used on windscreens to bead the rain(its called RAIN X) . Try it on a cheap pair of readers before you put it on your prescriptions . You probably are worrying about something that is not going to be an issue. It wasn't for me ,hopefully it won't be for you.

MemberI attached a piece of elastic to my glasses that went behind my head to keep them from slipping down/off. This worked well. I also got the de-fogging stuff from my optometrist, but can't remember what it's called just at the moment. I used it every morning and had no problems with glasses fogging up.
We had no rain on our trek, but I did have a problem with sweat getting behind my glasses and blurring my vision, so I had to keep wiping them with a lense cloth. Next time I will wear a sweat band to take up the excess.
