• January 8 – General MacArthur announces 333 Japanese aircraft andmore than 260 vessels destroyed since July 23
• January 22 – Sananda falls
• January 23 – All organised enemy resistance overcome in Sananada area
• January 24 – Liquidation of enemy complete in Sananada, with heavy losses to Japanese troops and material
