    She's done it – She's completed the trek – It's Over!!!

It was a dream come true for aussie (Gail Thomas) and her old time friend Beverly Howell when they reached the end of their journey.

Yes, she's made it! This time aussie had conquered the mighty Kokoda Trail in just nine days. Aussie and Beverly successfully ended their trek at 6.30pm on Sunday (their scheduled date of arrival) after a hard nine days of exhausting walk, climbs, and even falls along the perilous 96km WWII Trek.

It was tough but hey, who said aussie would not do it? Of course she had proven at last that if anyone could do it – she could. They did it the unusual way from Ower's Corner to Kokoda – which is extremely tough – and completed their trek at the approximate time of 68 hours.

Also today when she arrives from Popondetta, we will be equal in our Kokoda conquest. She has added 1 trek on her belt already same as the rest of us here at Matryx Limited except for Gava Lakau, Kenny – the hausboi and Richard – Russell's Driver in Kokoda.

For those of us who have done it – Russell Eroro, Jessie Garap including me… Alison Anis – it's congratulations to you Gail and Beverly on your successful trek.

    Ends..//

Yes she did indeed made it to Kokoda. aussie has successfully ended her nine-day trek from Ower's Corner towards Kokoda in an approximate time of 68 hours.

Their flight from Popondetta arrived at around 3pm and finally when their car drove into the compound and we saw aussie and Beverly jumping out – we were quite taken back by their physical appearance.

The two ladies looked everway fit. Must have gained that much strength after two day's rest at Russell Eroro's family Kokoda block but it was obvious these two daring ladies were undaunted by their extremely challenging trek.

They laughed and seemed so proud of themselves when they talked briefly about their experiences on the trail before heading for Bomana WWII Cemetary. And if they could described the whole thing…."It was awesome, very awesome," Gail said. Could it be painfully awesome??

It was a dream come true for aussie (Gail Thomas) and her old time friend Beverly Howell when they reached the end of their journey.

And painfully tough, but hey, who said aussie and Bev would not do it? Of course they had proven at last that if anyone could do it – they could. Bev was proud to tell everyone who would listen that she was 65 & a half!

So aussie has finally conquered the mighty Kokoda Trail. Today when she came back, I reminded her: "We are equal as fars as trekking Kokoda is concerned," …and she laughed.

"Yeah, but we did it the hard way! We started from Ower's Corner to Kokoda Station – which according to our guides and porters is the harder option and is extremely hard" – Gail could not hide this fact. The reason they headed this way was so they could share their trek with Kokoda Trekking Staff in Kokoda as a celebration ending to 9 days of trekking.

For those of us who've done it: Nathan Thomas (son), Jessie Garap, Russell Eroro (287 times) and me Alison – it's congratulations to you Gail Thomas and Beverly Howell on your successful trek.

So aussie's been there, done that! "Ating nau yu tru, tru "Mama Kokoda" stret.. ha ha!

Well done and congratulations once again.
