Tuesday 11th August. From news reports, it seems as though the 'Airlines PNG' RPT service to Kokoda this morning is overdue.

Our prayers go out for all the families involved back in Australia as they search for the plane fearing the worst but also we have a prayer for an extra person making up the total of 13 passengers on board, Kingsley Eroro.

Kingsley is the eldest brother of Russell Eroro my business partner. Kingsley's wife Grace you may all know as the woman in charge of the Kokoda Post Office. As well as looking after the Post Office, Grace and their family run the agency for APNG (Airlines of PNG) in Kokoda and can often be seen at the Kokoda airport.

Family members are all fearing the worst as they wait for news up dates.

Irrespective of which trekking company you walked with, if you boarded an Airlines of PNG flight you would probably have been booked in by Grace Eroro (wife of Kingsley) or one of their children as they are the agents for Airlines of PNG in Kokoda. Grace also runs the post office in Kokoda.

    Hello,

Having arrived back from our treck #429 exactly 1 yr ago today, we (all of us on the trek) are watching and listening for some good news. We hope they will be OK.
Our thoughts are with all the families as it is an extreamly difficult time for them.

My porter was Kingsley Eroro, who is obviously named after John's older brother. I didn't know that at the time.

    Regards

12:15pm – have just heard on the radio that the crash site has been reached by local villagers and that they are presently clearing the area so the army helicopter can land.

From the information received so far, its on the top of a hill in the Haila area. Just last week I took a photograph of Haila Village on my return flight from Kokoda.

Yes Paul, Kingsley is his uncle's namesake. They call the younger one, Kinni.

The Eroro's are a large family consisting of 9 of their own children of which Kingsley is the eldest son and many adopted children. Most of the men in this family work for us. Kingsley was employed by Porgera Mines and was on tours. As a result he often flew home to Kokoda on the regular passenger flight.

Our Love, Prayers and Condolences go out to all the families and friends of those who were lost in this tragic airline crash near Kokoda.
I am sure that the "Kokoda" family as a whole feel as saddened and dismayed as we are.

    Brian
