Sadly I report that there has today been another death on the Kokoda Track a 38 year old father whose daughter was in remission for leukaemia was walking for a cancer charity. I believe that he may have died from a heart attack. Sadly I understand it is also his wife's birthday today.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Yes, another sad day for the Kokoda Track. Based on radio communications, it appears to be a trekker walking with South Sea Horizons who sub contract their work to a local company by the name of Brigade Hill Mission Tours.

We have a couple of groups on the track at the moment who are in the vicinity of where it happened so we may hear more as and when they arrive back into town.

Our condolences to his loved ones as we are certainly thinking of them. Also to the trekking companies involved as its a shock to everyone when something like this happens.
