Up date 23rd August: Heard today that the truck has been rescued and all is well. However there remains a 5km detour via another route to by pass this area of the road from Popondetta to Kokoda and the people who live there are charging a fee for using their road.

Opportunism as always is alive and well in PNG.

    Well done to all involved.
I really wished i was there to help as the challenges with the equipment and the water crossing would have been a Kokoda experience in its self.

The stuck Toyota would have not been a problem as the Bullbar, towbar and chasis is strong enough to lift either end up , pivot it 180Deg and drop it down on the other side.

I hope the two Gensets give you good service and cold beer!

We crossed that river on the same day and wondered how in the world those boys would get us and all our bags and equipment across the river without getting wet. I took photos of the river and tyre tubes. I should have taken photos of the trekkers' faces when the group realised how we had to get across. The boys did a fabulous job and nothing got wet…the ride across was actually quite calm, despite the speed of the water and how choppy it looked. The boys were all caring and….I was just so impressed.

Gail, once I get my trek training business up and running, I would like to see how I can help in some way with the fabulous work/projects you're doing. smile.gif
