MemberToday in Papua New Guinea is a public holiday to celebrate PNG's independence.
Unfortunately this year nothing much happened here in our capital city. In other years there has been the Hiri Moale Festival which always drew large crowds both the locals and tourists worldwide.
This year was rather quiet by comparison but I still share with you what I am sure you will find colourful photographs of events these past few days.
Firstly in Goroka there was their annual show. Two of our 24th September trekkers met each other for the first time in the Goroka Lodge where they were both staying.
George Smith on the left and Philip Bourke on the right with Sir Akepa a former politician in Goroka. His son Robert works with me in Port Moresby and seeing as he was going to be in Goroka for the show, he kindly agreed to show around my Kokoda trekkers:

MemberRobert Akepa also played host to another two tourists from my Papua New Guinea website – http://www.pngbd.com who came here from Taiwan.
Frank Lin is a very successful businessman who manages to travel for two months of every year and has set up his own website with all his photographs. If you like the following image, please click on: http://www.frank-travel.com to view more of his photographs.

MemberOne of our trekkers from the last trek just back from Tufi, asked what is happening today in our capital city….I answered nothing much except perhaps the supermarket staff will dress up like they have done in years gone by…….how would you like the cashiers back home to look like our girls here in Port Moresby today at the busy Anderson's Supermarket:
