Cameras
We all had cameras and our experience suggests that:
- Small compact digital cameras are best.
- Try taking a camera that uses replaceable batteries instead of re chargeable batteries.
- There is no place to recharge batteries on the track.
- Take an extra memory card or two.
- Go to a Yachting Shop or Camp Store and buy a waterproof bag to carry your camera in.

To any of our ex trekkers, if you too would like to share your experience, please email me like Allan with your contribution to what makes a GREAT TREK! and helps to take the worry out of your preparation.
To anyone who would like to write a journal about their trek, whether you are a journalist or not, we would love to hear from you!
Photographs of Trek 390 to share with you. Allan is the guy in the yellow shirt in the photographs below – or in his words, the bloke with the huge smile on his face as he was just so happy to have completed the trek:

I am aged 61, a son of a 39th Batallion digger and recently walked the track with a group of 21,including my own two sons. Most of our group were direct decendants of 39th & 2/14th soldiers.
My preparation included all the recommendations included in your article. With my sporting background in rowing my fitness level was boosted by regular rowing exercise over many years and in particular the past two years. Excellent cardio fitness I found most helpful.
The sheer physical challenge of the walk cannot be understated however this was secondary to the emotion surrounding our crossing.
Again, An excellent article Allan.

Good Evening Gail,
I am more than happy to allow the Uni student to use any part of my report in their assignment. I wish them the best of luck.
Cheers,
