Hi, i am wanting to do the kokoda trek in aug/sept 2014. My daughter is keen to do it as well. She will be almost 13. Is that too young?

Hi, we do not have a minimum age but do insist anyone under 18 has to walk with a family member and/or guardian. We also request they hire a personal porter to help carry their pack.

Our youngest has been 7 years of age. So long as they are mentally fit, its never a problem.

We don't have a set age limit to walk the Kokoda Trail with our company. We have had a trekker who was 7 yrs old at the time he walked with his father and grandfather. We have also had an 81 year old man walk with us. http://www.kokodatrekking.com.au/halloffame.html

We do however require that a minor walk with a parent or guardian which you will have. We also require that all trekkers have a medical certificate from their doctor stating that they are fit and healthy to undertake the Kokoda Trail trek as it can be very hard for some who are not healthy and unfit to trek.

Ideally we recommend that children/ teenagers have a personal porter as it can be pretty hard on trekker's but can also be hard on children also or at the minimum a personal porter shared between two trekkers to help relieve some of the weight carried.

If you have time please do download our Kokoda Trekking Brochure. We are in the process of updating the brochure pricing and inclusions but have listed all new pricing below.
