Last week I was invited to attend the movie premier in Cairns sponsored by Airlines of PNG.

When you know what happened during World War II at Isurava, it allows you to feel for the diggers who fought there under such conditions.

I felt it was a bit like Bomana, when you walk the track it is an emotional experience to visit the war cemetery either before or after. This movie is much the same. If you plan to walk you should watch the movie. If you have already walked it will make more sense to you.

This morning I received this message from an ex trekker who also watched the movie this week:

    quote

    Gail,

I thought I would drop a quick line about the movie.

Tonight, 12 months to the day since we were at Efogi, myself and the guys
from Melbourne whom we did the trek with went to a premier screening of the
movie Kokoda, organised by the Shrine Of Remembrance.

I wasn't sure what to expect. But after meeting the boys, swapping our
stories and having a couple of ales we then went to the movies.

It was superb. They have done a great justice to an inspirational story. It
draws on some many of the stories that you pick up from the different books
and factual events. It gets inspiration from real events and you can see
    this in the movie.

The ending was brilliant. I wont elaborate but it brought tears to our
eyes. It brought back the emotions we all experienced at Isurava, Brigade
    Hill, Bomana war Cemetery.

In short the film was great and worthy of the highest accolades. So to all
you would be trekkers, go see it.

    Regards

    Pete Fraser
