MemberIt is a proud day for us all here at Kokoda Trekking as we say goodbye to an Ambulance we ordered and purchased for use by Kokoda Hospital for medical emergencies.
In the past there has been no ambulance based in Kokoda to service the community and/or trekkers to take them to the nearest hospital in Popondetta.
Kokoda has a nice 'Hospital donated by Rotary but no Doctor.
This is our small contribution to the province and we hope also a service to not only the people but to other trekking companies should a need arise.
Update 3rd April: I have been advised that John Derrick Eroro whose wife Alice is a sister at the Kokoda Hospital has been appointed full time driver of this vehicle.
In case of an emergency with trekkers, a two-way radio has been installed in this vehicle with the call sign: KH 1 (Kokoda Hospital 1)
If for some reason it does not answer, please call either of the following radio call signs until someone gets a message to Russell & John Derick Eroro's family block:
- KH1 (Kokoda Hospital Ambulance – John Derrick Eroro)
- RCE (Romeo Charlie Echo) (Russell Eroro – Kokoda Trekking)
- KTL 1 (Kilo Tango Lima 1) (KTL PMV Truck – Richard Driver)
- KTL Base (Kila Tango Lima Base) (Jessie Garap Radio Operator)
- Kokoda Hospital (whoever is on duty)
- Russell Eroro's Family Block Sat Telephone: 0563 9832 2013

MemberI would like to personally thank & acknowledge Kokoda Trekking and especially Gail Thomas & Russell Eroro for their wonderful contribution towards Kokoda Hospital – for the people of Kokoda – in their selfless donation of an Ambulance.
It may seem small to Gail & Russell as business partners of Kokoda Trekking Limited – but it is indeed a very BIG & much-much-needed contribution to the community of Kokoda.
In remote places like Kokoda – transport & health services such as ambulance to ferry the sick or dying back & forth from Kokoda to Popondetta is very very essential.
As a trekking business operating along Kokoda they have ensured that they gave back something to the community. We can only be thankful for this wonderful deed.
The initiative taken by Gail & Russell is commendable. I hope the people of Kokoda appreciate it and be thankful for this wonderful blessing.
To Gail & Russell and Kokoda Trekking Limited – may you continue to grow & expand in your business throughout the country and continue to help other unfortunate people benefit in trekking business.
Thank God for people like you.
Be Blessed Always
