Kokoda Trail Trekking Adventure Tours, welcomes home our youngest ever trekker, Joseph (Joey) Fitpatrick.

Joey had to break away from the others in the group and come home a day earlier as he needed to be back in Sydney on Friday.

He assures me they are all doing ok.

The 'before photo' – anyone following this trek, do you remember Joey sitting at the Holiday Inn:

Be it known that Joseph (Joey) Fitzpatrick has successfully completed a crossing of the Kokoda Trail on the 1st October, 2003.

We recognise a successful traverse of the Kokoda Trail cannot be made without an uncommonly high level of physical stamina and mental fortitude. In completing a crossing, Joey has joined the select group who have demonstrated these qualities.

In deed, in following in the footsteps of the explorers, mail carriers and soldiers, whose exploits reach back to the late 19th Century, Joey has now become a small part of the history of the Kokoda Trail.

"What you have achieved is a significant personal accomplishment. Well done and congratulations from us all"

We picked Joe's brain to see how the other trekkers were fairing.

Seems, George's gift that he brought up with him went over well with children at Isurava Village. George is doing ok the last time Joey set eyes on him two nights ago.

Shane O'Connor graised his head when he ran into some roofing iron but is ok.

His mates from Cairns are breezing home and have not had any problems.

Grant Turner from Innisfail is carrying his pack and doing it a bit tougher than the rest but travelling ok.

The two from Victoria Geoff and Janet Cowan have not had any problems.

Ted Everett Warren from the US also carrying his pack is finding it tough but from the way Joey talks, once again is hanging in there.

Jason Kovacs, is determined to finish but found his pack a heavy load. His knees are giving him a bit of problems but nothing that serious and he is determined to cross the finish line.

Philip Bourke seems to be going just great and has not had any problems that Joey know of.

Joey said when he himself reached Ower's Corner, he just threw down his bag and felt he could not have walked any further.

Well done Joey and what a team effort it seems to have been with them all supporting each other along the way.

I asked Joey if there was still anything to eat in the fridge at the unit and he replied….vegemite….bread….and then added, cream cheese….then I dont think the guys can eat any more of this after eating it on biscuits along the kokoda trail.

I am sure he is now dreaming of a good home cooked meal by his Mum:
