Greetings all – Thank you for this wonderful forum. I am preparing to walk the track as part of a "Return to Isurava" in August. My father was in the 39th battallion and returned to PNG a number of times. He had a great affection for the country and it will be good to see the places he spoke of so often. Relatives of 39th battallion members have been invited to this pilgrimage to Isurava.
Although I lived and worked in PNG (Lae) for 4 years (93-96) I was unable to complete the walk then.
Veterans from the 39th will be flying in to Isurava September 2 and our walk is timed to meet with them there for a memorial service.
So, thanks for this forum as it is so helpful in planning and preparation.
Patrick C.Hello Patrick, here with me at the moment is a guest house owner from Isurava who is waiting in Port Moresby for trekkers to arrive to take them on the Kokoda Trail.
His name is Kingsley Boropi and if he is not trekking at that particular time, please make yourself known to him as he would love to meet up with you all.
