by the way i will be going solo. is this possible?? could i get lost on the trip?? i wont have a carrier cause i saw its about 500 kina and thats out of my budget and my bag will weigh about 18 kgs is that okay????

the only thing i gots is i am trained physically but otherwise i dont have lots of money (cause i am a student and not working) for gear like i ran out of budget and i cant buy a tent or new shoes i have old hiking shoes will they last???

    Hi Khorr

Please read my earlier reply to your first message please reconsider your possible trip to PNG/Kokoda as what you are suggesting solo would be unsafe and whilst you will not like to hear this foolish to take with out suitable trekkiing gear and boots etc.

Go with a group but not solo as you are planning.

    hey brian,
thanks for the advise. i agree with you, it is dangerous and foolish but i have to try and if i do get of track i can always just turn back and retrack my steps??

i was thinking like this i will have lots of food in case iget lost and i was going to use a compase to aproximate points of reperage i think in english its like points of lookouts or what i mean is i will have a note pad and mark my average direction using a compase and using time as well to map my route and make lookout points every 3 hours of hike or so or shorter if there are drastic changes in direction or if there are ideal lookout points. so that if i get lost i will have enough food to last me a couple days and if i get lost i may try to head for my previous last lookout point. if you see this response do you think it is feasable to not get lost this way???

i will also see if i can get a guide or someone to come with me if there is anybody willing coz i know its off season. maybe ill cut off on some housing expense at port moresgby and crash in a church or something and get a porter or guide. i think its like 500 kina or there about i think.

    anyhow thanks for your comments.
