MemberGot up this morning at 4am to re-set the body clock. After 30 mins of warming up and gentle stretching (still have that groin injury), my hubby & I went for a 40 min walk around the block with our packs.
Anyway, I started itching profusley on my legs. Nope – wasn't the gaiters. The more I sweat, the itchier I became. Then I developed this awful red rash on the inside of my thighs. It is gone now, but geez it really drove me insane >.<
I have also learnt that it is virtually impossible to scratch an itch when one is wearing skins! How can I get around this? Oh and has anyone else had this problem??

MemberBrooke, it could just be the increased blood flow….that sometimes causes that itchy feeling.
When you combine heat, pressure, exercise, blood pumps more freely. When the hot blood just underneath the skin reacts with the cooler outside temperature, you get that itchy sensation (drives me nuts, too). I don't know how you get rid of it, but your body should get used to it. Maybe talk to a pharmacist about an antihistamine, or similar. There might be something you can put on your legs before you put on your skins.

MemberThanks Eve. I noticed this morning it was a lot better. Still a bit itchy, but nowhere near as bad. I am thinking you are right and that it is my body adjusting so early in the morning.
I had thought about some vitamin E cream or something, but then thought it would be a waste of time if I'm just going to sweat it off…
Will see how I go tomorrow morning.
Peter – you crack me up

MemberIf every forum had threads with interesting titles like: "I Have The Itchies" I'd be online a lot more…
Just to add to Eve's comments it's possible you picked up a fungal type infection, though that doesn't explain the whole legs itching it may explain the inner thigh redness. I'd slap on some canestan or similar to be on the safe side.

MemberRather than 'apply' a cream or similar, I'd look to be fixing it internally with an antihistamine if it gets really bad and won't go away. As Eve says, it can probably be put down to increased blood flow at that particular hour of the morning and will likely ease as your body clock adjusts. I'd definitely be taking some antihistamines with you to Kokoda though, you may react badly to the humidity if you are having this reaction in the relative dry of Aus.

MemberAntihistamines were at the top of my list, so just as well.
Rocky – didn't think about my title, but now that you mention it, I feel a bit embarrassed lol! I have a habit of saying exactly what I think without thinking about how other people could interpret it!
