Hi. I am new here and am walking the track in June this year. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how often you "run" into other groups on it?

Hi Bud, in busy times you meet other trekkers all the time. However, the track is 96 km long so it is not usually a problem unless you run into a really large group.

Last year there was approximately 3000 trekkers and I did not hear of any problems re numbers. We continually man the radios and our boys know at all times where other trekking companies are and we try to avoid as much as we can but obviously there will be nights where you will share a campsite with other trekkers.

I believe KTA are trying to make around 5 campsite areas in each village. If you do not like crowds, it is suggested you trek outside of school holiday periods just like anywhere in Australia.

    Hi Bud

Agree entirely with what Gail has sent to you, but having said that, it is interesting ti 'bump' into other Trekkers going the opposite way.

We ran into a Canadian Father & Daughter and it was wonderful to sit down for 10 mins and exchange thoughts and comments on the trek so far for each of us.

Other Trekkers will always ask on what is ahead for them and what we can expect to encounter as we progress the opposite way.

We really enjoyed stopping and letting other groups go past and everyone shakes hands and inroduces themselves by first name and everyone wishes each other 'Good Luck & Good Trekking'.

    Cheers
