MemberI am the author of "A Chronology of Australian Armed Forces At War 1939-45," published by Allen & Unwin in April 2001.
I also have a completed manuscript of the Kokoda Campaign from July 1942 until January 1943.
Following the publication of my book, I applied for grants from various sources to enable me to "Trek the Track". I wanted to see for myself the various battle sites (Isurava, Eora Creek, Brigade Hill, etc.), to add "credibility" to my work.
I also wanted to photograph the various sites, and accurately plot the track with a hand-held GPS.
However, all my applications were unsuccessful.
Now, aged 61, and having undergone treatment for cancer, I do not feel that I could cope with the physical exertion of trekking the Track.
However, I have seen on a web-site that there are day-trips of the Track by helicopter, which lands at the sites I particularly want to see.Does any member of this forum have any information on these flights – or know from where I can obtain such information.
Cheers,
