MemberWe are trekking in Sept 05 and would like to know whether we will be confronted with 'sheer drops' while climbing the trek. Looking at the map the inclines and declines appear too steep and we fear heights! And we would also like to know about the hills because no-one at this stage seems to mention them – is it really as high and steep as we have read. Thanks a million. Luchar

I can remember a couple of areas where the track was narrow & a steep drop off was to either side but remember in the unlikely event that u go over the side if tired etc lots of trees prevent you going all the way down. you will slip over heaps of times so you may as well get used to it. I also have a fear of heights i.e. looking over a cliff, but it is such an amazing experience you won't even think of it
just get in there & do itAnzac

MemberThanks Anzac, the unknown is a little scarey – glad to know about those steep hills and the possibility of falling. I reckon we can do it! Luchar

There is very little sensation of stepness to either side of the track due to the dense vegitation, looking back or forward down slope can be a little daunting but just remember small steps and take your time. I did the trek in September 2004 and it was super. Give it a go.12/05/2005 at 2:42 am #95223Freray
MemberLuchar,
Hi, I walked the track in September 2003, I also am scared of heights and had the same concerns as you. The thing is, you will be so preoccuppied with thinking about where to put your foot next that you will not have a chance to think about the heights. Also the stick gave me a great peace of mind.
Cheers.12/05/2005 at 12:53 pm #95297luchar
