MemberEarlier this morning 9th May, 2004 I received a radio message from the Kokoda Hospital asking me to go down to the airport and meet the flight from Kokoda and pick up a box addressed to myself.
So I checked with the airline to see what time the flight was due in and headed off to the airport.
What a wonderful surprise was to await me. Once at the airport Jimmy the IT Architect of this website, went in to pick up the box.
No long after he reappeared with a small box under his arm. I opened up the box not knowing what was inside but still thinking it had something to do with our porters or treks.
The contents completely took me by surprise. There inside was a letter written as follows:
Not much to say to you but just want to think of you in this very 'Special Day'.
Happy Mother's Day 'Mama Kokoda'
Wishing you all the best and safe staying their in Port Moresby City.
May the Good Lord bless you and guide you wherever you go and whatever you do………………………………….
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

MemberAlso inside was a piece of Tapa Cloth which is part of the culture of the Oro Province people and they still practice the art of making it to this day.
Check it out, very nice and I am ever so grateful.
Its things like this that make me so proud to be be helping the guides and porters of Kokoda to find trekkers to walk the Kokoda Trail.
Mama Kokoda over and out!
