[The popular holiday-travel show "Getaway" on Australia's Channel 9 network is currently filming an episode for its upcoming programs on the historical Kokoda Track.

The 'Channel 9 Getway Kokoda Trek' commenced in Kokoda on July 3 with the official welcome including a flag raising ceremony and cultural dances for the 4-member crew and 70 trekkers from Australia. Facilitated by tour operator Adventure Kokoda in collaboration with Kokoda Track Authority, the 12-day trek will also comprise 125 guides and porters and will end with the sounds of a buglar and lone piper at the Bomana War Cemetary.

The organisers and Channel 9 hope to capture some spectacular footage of the trek and have arranged a Fuzzy-Wuzzy Angel re-enactment at Kovelo Village, a small dawn service at Isurava Memorial on July 5, a village rugby match between Kagi and Efogi and a women's soccer match at Menari.

It is hoped a buglar will accompany the trek to sound 'Reveille' and the 'Last Post' each day to reinforce the military historical side of the Kokoda Track. Getaway is aired in 30 countries worldwide with a viewing audience of 10 million. For more info email: adventurekokoda@nexon.com.au or visit: http://www.kokodatreks.com
