MemberOn our Sept 24 trek I made the mistake of probably taking a little too much in my back pack. If I was doing the Track again I would certainly pack a bit lighter. My runners stayed in my pack the whole time (and took up a fair bit of space). I did wear my thongs (footwear) each day around the camp site.
A few of us lathered our feet in vaseline each day and that seemed to keep the blisters away.
A head lamp at night would have been very handy as it keeps both hands free while you're eating or packing.
I certainly used my anti-inflammatory tablets, but most others in our group didn't seem to.
I could have taken more muesli bars. One of the guys took dried fruit which was a good idea.
A pack of cards would have come in handy.
A few of us took zip lock plastic bags (from KMart) with a valve to push the air out to keep our gear dry.
One of the guys took balloons to give to the local kids, which went down well.
At the time we went (not much rain) a light plastic poncho was all that was needed for the rain.26/08/2004 at 4:11 am #94571lynchy
MemberMake sure you have a comfortable pillow or something you can make in to one. I think everyone on our trek who didn't found it very difficult to sleep. To me that was more important than your mattress.
