The two group of trekkers for September treks who both started at Ower's Corner completed their walk in Popondetta and Kokoda respectively.

The second group who left Port Moresby recently after a hard nine days walk on the Kokoda Trail, were the last group of trekkers we had for the month of September. This group comprised of former AFL players from Melbourne who happened also to be close friends.

Trekkers included – Terry Morris, Alan Whelan, Anthony Gleeson, David Dietrich, Peter Plummer, Hayden Borley, Kim Radok, Lindsay Iliff, Scott Harvey, Michael Tarrant, Cameron Bain, Anthony Sparkes, Ross Davies, Simon Plummer and Ryan Cullen.

This group were supposed to arrive and fly by charter to Popondetta and start from that end and work their way back to Ower's Corner. However, Air Niugini's plane was grounded in Cairns and they arrived up the following day which put their schedule out so Russel Eroro – KTL Managing Director and Gail Thomas made a decision to walk them from this end so they could make up the time. Trek Leader Terry Morris who works for the National Bank in Australia spoke to his fellow trekkers and agreed to change direction.

They left Ower's Corner on 23rd of September and made it back to Pom after completing their trek on 30th Of September.

Meeting up in PNG to do the trek was a big reunion for the Former AFL Players from Blackburn, Victoria who hardly see each other as they are scattered all throughout Australia.

All the fitness training from AFL days must have paid off well as the guys did extremely well and ended up at Russell's family block for a feast of food, oro province traditional sing sing welcome.

"Where do we go from here??" …The Look says it all…These guys look extremely fit – unbeaten. These are just no ordinary guys…they are big guys with lots of muscles..ha ha ha

And they thoroughly enjoyed their trip towards Popondetta.

Back in Pom they headed out to Lamana Gold Club and head back home the following afternoon.

The group of AFL boys were joined by 15 other trekkers from Australia who left a day before 23rd of September fo Ower's Corner and walked towards Kokoda.

This group consisted of: Stephen Courtney, Murray Jones, Mathew Wools – Cobb, Stu Wools-Cobb, Roger Kelly, John Mckinlay, Murray Gilbert, Andrew Burke, Jim Meehan, Dale Harle, Nathan Frankewicz and Mike Hogan.

This group left a day before and completed a day before the former AFL guys. Their trek went successfully and all of them did well.

The two were the last group of trekkers for the month of September. This week we didn't have any trekkers coming but that does'nt mean that we wont have any for this month.

OCTOBER is soon to start with a big number of trekkers. This Saturday, October 9th three groups of trekkers will be arriving and will leave together on Sunday to walk the trek.

The first group is scheduled to do a fast trek – walk for 6 Days, the second group which will be led by Pam Christie have settled in for 8 days while the last group is taking on the average 9 Days 8 Nights trek.

With all the treks on schedule, next week looks set to be very busy week on the trail for the porters and guides.
