Dear Gail, now that our trek has long since finished we have had time to reflect on what has turned out be a life changing experience for us both. We have been so impressed with the png locals that either accompanied us on the trek, or we met in the various villages, that we want to assist them in some small way. One of the porters said, "We dont have much but we are very happy people" This has been ringing in our ears since our return! What can we do to help? We have been thinking about sending some clothing and perhaps school supplies to the Kokoda school. I have priced postage and we can send 20kgs to png for$155(Aust). Do you think we are being realistic? Or can you suggest some other way of assistance? We are looking for guidance and direction and are open minded to your suggestions. We had a fantastic experience in png and are telling everyone who will listen. Well done to you and all the staff at Kokoda Trekking.
Pete and Scott.
