Is there somewhere where we can leave our luggage that we don't take on our trek?? I read somewhere it gets left in Port Morsby, how does this happen and where is it left, and is it safe???

Usually there is a secure area in the hotel you will be staying for your luggage, as well as security boxes for your money, valuables etc. You will only need about K100.00 with you, in small notes and change, the natives put out cool drinks etc at the villages and these are usually about K5.00

Should we take our passports on the track, or leave them in a hotel safe box?

    Hi Rose Cherie

When you trek with KTL, part of your accommodation package is for your hotel to look after your luggage for the time you are on the Track, it is quite safe.

Also, with your luggage, go through it two or three times and then leave at least half behind, I took far too much stuff to Moresby, far too much!

With regard to your passport, from memory, I carried mine with me I think, in a special pouch in my Hydration Pack, which was with me all the time.

    Cheers

Hi there, yes confirm hotels have a room where you can store any gear while you are out on the track. We recommend that you put in their safe deposit box any valuables such as:

    • extra cash
    • airline tickets
    • credit cards
    • jewellery
    • passport
    • + anything else you do not want to risk loosing.
