MemberThe other day I was browsing ebay looking for a day pack to take to New Zealand in february. I ended up buying a new 50 litre Caribee "trekker" for $67
I wasnt expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Its sturdy enough and has plenty of room. The only thing it doesnt have is a rain cover which came as a bit of a surprise, I'll just store my stuff in a garbage bag and put that inside the pack in case it rains.
I think this would be the ideal day pack for anyone considering Kokoda who doesnt want to spend a fortune on a day pack.

MemberGood to know Peter. I was also pleasantly surprised by an Ebay purchased backpack not too long ago.
The brand is Doldy (I hadn't heard of them but there is a website) and it is really strong and comfortable. It is only a daypack of 32 litres but it does have a rain cover! In fact I am lending it to my dad when we trek in August-it will be his 3rd Kokoda trek but his first with a porter so he can luxuriate in only having to carry a day pack!Looking forward to hearing about your NZ trip when-it's on my To Do list!

MemberIve not heard of Doldy either, its surpising what you can find on ebay. Your old man must be a hardy type. 3 times is amazing.
I really want to do Black Cat trail and Shaggy Ridge in PNG. Thye will have to wait a couple of years though. My trekking wish list is getting longer by the day. Theres so much to do and not enough years to do it all in. - AuthorPosts
