Boss Meri
MemberIt was with sadness I received an email from Peter Holles who has walked twice with us as follows:
Dear Gail,
This week we buried my brother Micheal, he did two of your treks in 2004 & 2006 and at his funeral this week in Sydney a photo of him and your former porter Manuel featured on the front of the prayer book at the Mass/Funeral . A mention of Kokoda featured in the eulogy quite strongly as Micheal loved his experiences especially his interaction with Porters and Guides Ross and Eric.
Micheal had a secondary Melanoma and was a shadow of his larger than life former self . Could you please pass on the news to the porters who remember him and Russel and Ross . He filled a very large Church with a collection of people who would never be seen in the same place.
Thanking You .
Peter Holles
When we were in Australia a couple of years back we were invited to the home of Peter and his family for a barbeque. Michael who lived in Sydney flew up to meet up with us and his family and to attend the barbeque. He is pictured here in the front row of the group photograph we had taken on the night.

A Mass in celebration of Michael's life will be held this Thursday, 2 October 2008 at St Brigid's Catholic Church, cnr Marrickville and Livingstone Roads, Marrickville at 10.30am. Following the Mass the cortege will proceed to Rookwood Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sydney Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Envelopes available at the church.

MemberOn behalf of Management and staff, our sincere condolences Peter are with you and your family as we remember Michael quite clearly. As I relay this email to our porters I am sure they too will be sad to hear of his passing.
With fond memories of a really nice guy and definitely a trekker we will never ever forget.
