Member9th May: Hi Tony, if I had seen your message before I left the house I would have printed it off and taken it with me, however sorry I have only just read it now and its 1:40pm our time.
I met up with them and the other trekkers in the group last night and again this morning. They are so young and to have come all the way from England to take on the challenge of the Kokoda Trail is in itself worth a pat on the back.
This morning they were the last to turn up but I was told they were at breakfast so knew they were up so did not go looking for them. About 15 minutes after the others they arrived and soon we were taking some pics of the group which I will post later when my camera returns to our base.
Unfortunately we had to change the trek around and now they are walking from Owers' Cnr to Kokoda but no-one seemed to worried about walking in the opposite direction to what they had booked.
You can keep track of them by logging on to the website and scrolling down to see their trek number 507 once I get it up and running which should be per above when the camera comes back to the office with our driver after dropping them off.
It is a mixed group. A father and it seems three of his sons; a couple of women who are friends; a man in charge of defense attached to the Australian High Commission and these two young men.
I think they will have a great time. I told them waiting at the other end in Kokoda will be their first hot meal in 8 days along with a massage if they wanted one.
regards

MemberThank you so much for your reply, really reasuring that they've arrived safely. How difficult it would have been to be a parent before the internet!
"Last to arrive" now that's a surprise.
Can't wait to see the group photo.
Thank you for looking after them

MemberHi again, I suspect their adventure started the minute they hit the road to Owers' Corner as I am still waiting on our vehicles to return after getting bogged on the return trip. On the way out there would have been plenty of people to push had that happened but on the way back in only Russell and our driver.
Our 4wd vehicle pulled the truck out and they are now on their way back so patience is needed before I get my camera and can post pics!
Yes, just what did we before the internet, well I am old enough to remember, somehow we survived and so did our kids…
