MemberI and a few mates (all in our 50's) are planning a 9 day walk in September and we all intend to use Personal Porters.
We are quite experinced bush walkers (although we have done nothing like the Kokoda) and have back packs in the 65-75 litre range.
We intend hiring personal porters and letting them carry the 65-75 litre packs while we carry smaller and lighter day packs.
My question is what gear will we need to carry in our own day packs and therefore what size day packs should be be considering buying. Since we are buying day packs any other tips about day packs would be welcome
Thanks
John

MemberHi John,
Great o see you using the forum. I have used 75 ltr WE backpacks for years and am going back up to Kokoda( again) in April. I am not sure what else you would need in the daypack apart from camera, rain gear and some snacks etc but I have a WE Contour which is about 35 ltr- 40 ltr and it is massive. I used it on the Thorsburne trail for 4 days and had all of my gear in it. They are very comfortable and would more than suit your purpose.Best of luck and glad to see us old farts still out and about.
Regards, Phantom
