MemberBoth pilots were often seen flying one of Airlines of PNG's Twin Otters to Kokoda and surrounding areas dropping off our trekkers and also cargo flights in and around the Goilala and Oro Province airstrips.
We apologise for this pic as its a little blurry but it one of the last photographs taken of Phil before he headed out on a such a flight. Here he is playing around with a digital camera.
I am sure many of our ex trekkers will remember both pilots and share with us their condolences to family and friends for their tragic loss.

MemberEditors Note: Captain Phil Wiseman was my neighbour who lived up the back and I constantly heard his car start up for his early morning starts.
It has been a week now since the last time I heard his car start up!
Phil used to always crack jokes and say hi as he walked in for the flights when our trekkers would be heading out to Kokoda, I personally shall miss his friendly manner and I am sure you the trekkers can recall such moments from both pilots on board your flight into Kokoda.
From all of us here at http://www.pngbd.com and http://www.kokodatrail.com.au and
http://www.kokodatrail.com.pg our hearts go out to you for your tragic loss.Having been married to a PNG pilot for many years, it is the phone call and/or knock at your door that you always dread one day will happen. Fortunately for me and my family we have been lucky as my husband has now been flying here for over 30 years but I can still put my feet in their shoes and know how they must feel.
May they rest in peace!
