MemberUpdate 6:50 21st April: Have just heard from Wayne that they have reached the village of Naduli where they plan on spending the night. I also got to talk to Rahman and passed on your messages. He sounded really pleased to hear from home.
He told me to tell you all that he is experiencing both 'pain' and 'fun' !!!
According to Wayne they are both doing really well.
Plan a) tomorrow is Eora Creek, Plan b) is Alola Village. The next day they walk off the track into Kokoda!
Apparently its a wet track with lots of rain at the present time.
The track shown below will be part of what they will be walking on tomorrow from Naduli, or as some say Naduri. Only in their case they will be walking down not up this mountain.
If its slippery and wet Wayne may reflect back to when he entered our Kokoda Challenge race. I can recall a sat phone call with Soc Kienzle (son of Bert Kienzle who was in charge of the 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels' during WWII) around 7pm at night when he said to me, NO-ONE WILL BREAK THE RECORD THIS YEAR as its the worst conditions I have ever experienced.
While he was on the phone talking to me a head torch appeared…he soon recognised the runner as Brendan Buka the trek champion in 16 hours 34 minutes! Not far behind him was Wayne Urina … Wayne's time in second position out of 68 competitors was 18 hours 34 minutes. For any of us who have walked the track these times are unbelievable. Soc and his team of trekkers were camped at Templetons Crossing at the time of our race.

MemberUpdate 23rd April: I posted something yesterday but checking it again this morning seems it did not load properly as its GONE!
I heard from last night that they had reached their destination of Eora Creek. Tim was absolutely exhausted and went straight and lied down. Rahman is still ok and powering along it seems. Tim apparently suffered today as he was feeling sick.
Wayne is confident they will all walk off the track today into Kokoda. They still have a tough walk ahead of them and no doubt are on the move as I type this. Sometime late afternoon they should walk out into Kokoda.

MemberCongratulations are in order for Trek 647 as they both walked off the track along with our KTL boys around 4pm this afternoon. Tim has some blisters but is ok.
According to Wayne, he saw Kokoda and took off sixty! Thats a common way for PNG people to express someone who is in a hurry. In years gone by the speed limit was 60 miles per hour which to them is REAL FAST….so when someone plants their foot and takes off they would say he is going sixty!!!
Whatever, he powered home along with Rahman and at the moment they are sleeping it seems in the hut alloted to them. Tomorrow they have to be up at 3am for the drive to Popondetta airport.
It might be rather noisy however as another group came off the track earlier today and I was just told they are still ordering pizza's and celebrating their trek with a singalong.
