MemberOn the 24th April we met with the three trekkers who headed out yesterday to begin their Kokoda trek. They wanted to go to the craft market so the Harold their guide along with one of our porters accompanied them during their shopping spree. Yesterday we collected them at the wee hour of 4am and drove them out to the Bomana War Cemetery for the dawn service.
After the service they went to the Australian High Commission for the Gunfire breakfast which ended around 8:45am.

Anzac Day – Bomana War Cemetery. The last photograph was actually taken by one of our trekkers who returned on the 24th from a trek. Today I was looking at his photographs on facebook and noticed Kenny and Louise in the photograph. Hope Tim does not mind as I saved it to post here for their family and friends back home.

MemberThey were then driven back to their hotel to pack and get ready for their trek. We drove back to our depot and collected the Guide and porters for this trek and then back to their hotel to pick them up.
Around 11am we were on the way to Owers' Corner. Trekkers on this trek include :
Kenny and Louise Hewson and Kevin Bowen.
Before they headed out Louise sounded a little bit nervous but I am sure our staff are showing her she can DO IT…so everyone start posting so I can pass on your messages of inspiration to her.

MemberOn the way out to Owers' Corner we stopped at Rouna Lookout for them to stretch their legs. In one of the photographs is David Currie (left) and his father who came up to Port Moresby to attend the dawn service. David walked three years in a row and was planning on walking this year with his father but he took sick. Yesterday his was able to achieve part of a dream and to see where the Kokoda Track commenced from.

Memberbye bye Trek 645. In these photographs you will notice two guitars. One with Tomsteen and the other on Davidson's back. Both these guys love to play the guitar however Davidson does not own a guitar. A few weeks back he asked a favour of me…could I please buy him a guitar…well his wish has come true and he is walking home with it. It is hoped he will play some nice music with it along the way for our trekkers to enjoy:

MemberUpdate 26th April: We heard from the track that last night was spent at what is commonly referred to as Goodwater campsite. All trekkers continue to do ok and tonight they plan on reaching Japs ladder. Louise is struggling a little so once again how about registering and giving her some support.
When we heard from the track they were at Ioribaiwa Village.
