MemberA few hours away from Port Moresby is a sleepy town called Kavieng. It is renowned for its white sandy beaches…not exactly the Gold Coast….but for PNG its as close as it gets.
I visited Kavieng way back in 1973 and I can still remember it as quiet and peaceful place and I have been told it hasnt changed much since then.
Today I was sent some information on diving from that province that I thought I would share with you all. Not everyone comes to PNG just to walk the Kokoda Trail….some extend and see other parts of what PNG has to offer…this is just one such place…

MemberThis is a typical guesthouse on this island where surfers from all over the world come to visit. Last year I had a trekker who came and walked the Kokoda Trail from Noosa. He was so impressed with PNG that he went back home and talked some surfing buddies of his to come with him on a surfing trip.
When he returned he caught up with me again and said it was the best surfing he had ever done….now thats something isnt it seeing as he has surfed for years at Noosa and the Sunshine Coast in general.
Beach Bungalow at Nusa Island Retreat – situated a boat ride away from Kavieng main town. Their boat will pick you up from the mainland and return you again for your flight back home:
