Antony is now in Alola Village. He is ok and apparently wanting to get in touch with his brother. Even closer now to Kokoda and tomorrow he will take in the sights of Isurava Memorial. I missed the call today as busy with another trek so Wayne made contact with one of my staff and sent me a text message by satellite phone. No need to hurry now as he will come off with the other trekkers finishing on the 29th, so time to enjoy the scenery, smell the flowers and soak up the history and company of our boys.

I thought two staff were with him but seems he has four accompanying him along the track. Two porters from Kokoda were supposed to walk for two days and turn back. Seems news went out about Antony and the boys instead of turning around, decided to walk until they caught up with Wayne and Hobert to lend a hand. Picture Antony tomorrow when he reaches the memorial area, surely he will be a happy man. He will get a surprise when he arrives in Kokoda as his mates left behind a signed map to give to him once he completes his trek.

I got to speak to Antony a short time ago on the sat phone. He sounded so happy! yes, despite the pain of blisters and the extra strain on his hips, he was still full of beans, positive he will complete his trek, and so thankful for the messages I told him were being posted on our facebook page for him to read when back home.

Go Antony, you are almost to Kokoda.

Antony left Isurava this morning and has now reached Hoi campsite area where he will camp tonight along with his loyal companions, our staff, Wayne Urina Tihimi; Hobert Keke; Dillon and Bill Suma. The last two guys walked in carrying food for another trek and were supposed to turn back. News passed along the track that Wayne had a 1 legged trekker so these two boys decided to keep walking and catch up to Wayne. They caught him at Efogi and turned back with them to help out wherever they could to get him to Kokoda. Bear in mind that they were not instructed to do this, it was purely their decision. Today finds one of these boys walking down to Kokoda to get some batteries for the camera Wayne has with him and to pick up some cash to pay for their accommodation as the money he was holding onto has run out due to the extra days in the bush.

According to Wayne, Antony is still going strong but now doing shorter days as there is no hurry, his ticket to fly back to Port Moresby and Australia has been changed to the 30th May. Tomorrow night at this stage Wayne plans to overnight at Kovelo and to arrive in Kokoda on the morning of the 29th May. Picture them all today relaxing in this creek like trekkers before them in the photograph below. Almost there Antony and you will soon have bragging rights to yell out to everyone who will listen to you, that you successfully accomplished a crossing of the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, some say the toughest walk in the world and you did it on 1 leg and crutches. So inspiring to a whole of of people reading this, that anything is possible providing you put your mind to it like you have done.
