Good News! Anaconda – the adventure playground now have on offer various equipment for hire made up as follows:

Hike Tents:

• 2 person – 3 season hike tent – 7 day hire = $42.00 + $5.00 for each additional day
• 2 person – 4 season hike tent – 7 day hire = $64.00 + $6.00 for each additional day

Mattress:

• Hike mat – camper deluxe – 5cm thick – 7 day hire – $29.00 + $5.00 for each additional day
• Hike Mat – trek standard – 2.5cm thick – 7 day hire – $23.00 + $4.00 for each additional day
• Hike mat – trek 3/4 – 2.5cm thick – 7 day hire – $17.00 + $3.00 for each additional day

Sleeping bags plus inner sheet:

• 3 season down sleeping bag – 7 day hire – $40.00 + $5.00 for each additional day
• 4 season down sleeping bag – 7 day hire – $45.00 + $5.00 for each additional day

Backpack Hire:

• 75 litre Hike Pack – 7 day hire – $34.00 + $4.00 for each additional day
• 80 litre Hike Pack – 7 day hire – $36.00 + $4.00 for each additional day

Ground Sheet:

• 3.6 x 3.6m – 7 day hire – $9.00 + $1.00 for each additional day
• 3.6 x 7.3m – 7 day hire – $12.00 + $2.00 for each additional day

The staff of Anaconda also assured me they could supply anywhere in Australia if you are prepared to pay for the courier service to and from where you live.

I have met the ashmore staff and believe me, they will go the extra mile to ensure they give you the service you need to fit you out with all your trekking gear. They also have a huge range of lightweight hiking gear/boots/tents – in fact everything is in this store! you name it, they have got it…..

Inside their store they also have a climbing wall to test your fitness. Not that you do any climbing as such on the Kokoda Track. In fact we had one trekker who broke his arm in training and still managed to successfully complete his trek.
