Jack
MemberI'm planning on doing the trek soon. But the only part I'm not sure about so far is after I catch the flight to Port Moresby what is the process? Meaning: when I get there how to get to the hotel, how to get to the trek or meet up with people to go to the trek etc. So if anyone could explain what they did it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.04/03/2010 at 8:31 am #103953peterh13
Memberwhere are you staying and who are you trekkiing with ???
The hotel you are staying with will probably have a bus to meet you at the airport, and the trekking company should pick you up at the hotel.
Have you made any arrangements at all ??????04/03/2010 at 8:53 am #103955Jack
MemberNo I haven't made any arrangements that's why I'm asking people what they did so I can get an understanding.

Memberyou need to book everything weeks if not months in advance.
I stayed at the Gateway hotel. They will pick you uip at the airport KTL (who run this site) are good to trek with. But again you've got to book ahead.
If you just turn up, I don't think you'll find somewhere to stay or a trekking company that has room for you, they wont even find your body. Pt Moresby is a wild west town.

MemberJack, you can book with KTL on this very website (choose your trek dates from the list of treks provided), and pay by credit card. You will also need to book your hotel (we stayed at the Gateway) some months in advance. That way by the time you get to PNG everything will be well and truly organised.

MemberWhat if you don't have a credit card? I am on a disability support pension and so would have to pay say each fortnight or 3-weekly. Does KTL allow this?
Editor's Note:We have two options for payment of our treks. One option is by bank transfer and the other credit card transactions:

MemberThanks Brian
Not looking at going for quite some time (next 5 or 6 years) but still nice to know these things ahead of time anyway.
Good thing is Gateway Hotel would've been finished being revamped by the time we trek Kokoda again and we can reap the rewards of wonderous views with a beautiful refreshing pool to swim in and a complete new restaurant instead of our view of construction workers working on the pool, the delightful smell of concrete being cut accompaning it and no pool! lol! Still…I did like watching a little turtle having many adventures in the scenery behind the lobby desk
