DARWIN BOY
MemberLooking forward to my trek in July and everything paid for except accommodation. Has anyone found a way around the
scandalous hotel room rates ? Even with the Kokoda Trekking discount, the cheapest rate so far is between $250 and $300
per night. Nothing is going to spoil this experience for me, but getting ripped off like this will leave a sour taste in the mouth.Counting down the days,

MemberHi Darwin Boy, why not check out the Sogeri Lodge, refer link below, prices range of K150 upwards but nothing like they charge in Port Moresby. At the moment hotels in Port Moresby can charge pretty much what they like as they are 99% full all year round with all the business opportunities going on with the new gas project.

The lodge is roughly 30 minutes out of town but they offer a pick up and drop off service to the airport. My son stays there quite often with his trekkers. Its safe, secure and clean.

MemberI dont think the larger hotels actually rip you off.You know what the price will be upfront before you go, and some of us like a bit of luxury, especially after having been bush. I'll be staying at the Gateway again.
