Also on the same flight yesterday which left right on time at 6am was Pam Christie and her fellow trekkers:

    Date: 10 October 2004 – 17 October 2004

8 Day 7 night trek commencing 10th October, 2004 from Kokoda to Ower's Corner:

    1. Nicky George + Requires a porter
    2. Ema Dewit + Requires a porter
    3. Mark Nizette + Requires a porter
    4. Phil Haddock
    5. Maureen Haddock + Requires a porter
    6. Andy Shearer + Requires a porter
    7. Pam Christie – Does not require a porter

    8. Nick Penn – Does not require a porter – comedian entertainer who arrives in PNG this week to perform at a function in Lae. A big thank you to Pam for allowing him to join this trek – paid in full 05/10/04

Mid last week I also received a phone call from a Comedian who was performing at the Lae International Hotel to be an addition to her team. Pam was willing to take him on, so Nick Penn was added to this trek. On Saturday night he was talking about taking his guitar along and wondering about the weight. Our guide Eric Uwea remarked, you bring it, I will carry it…..so can only assume if Nick was not too exhausted, that they would have lots of entertainment provided along the trek right now as the guitar boarded the flight to Kokoda.

The following list of trekkers spent a quiet day looking around the Kokoda Station, swimming in the creek and getting to know the locals who stay in and around Russell Eroro's family block in Kokoda. They were up bright and early today for their trek up to Isurava where they will spend the night.

Current updates from our porters and guides on the trail indicated all the trekkers are okay and are doing fine.

Today saw the first group of trekkers – the fast trek team of 6 days and 5 days leave Eora creek and heading towards Templeton Crossing 2 where they will be camping overnight.

All trekkers in this group are pushing hard to get there. So far all is going well. Tomorrow's destination is yet undecided as we heard from our guide Kingsley Boropi. "Our destination depends on how everyone is in the trek is pulling through," Kingsley reported.

He said everyone in the trek are doing fine. With day 1 gone the group have four more days to complete.

The map of Kokoda…shows the rough and steep mountain slopes. Can you handle it in six days.

The second group of trekkers for the 8 Day trek with Eric Uwea are currently headed towards Eora Creek where they will spend the night. Message from Eric this morming was that everyone's doing pretty well.

Following close and a day behind this trek is the 9 days and 8 Night trek led by Syprian. This group will be arriving at the Battlefield where they will be camping overnight. Everyone's pulling through as they are able to go on their own pace.

It seems before 5pm or 6pm everyone will be able reach their destinations. We will hear more from the guys tomorrow. Yes more updates on the three treks tommorrow.

DAY 3 – Blisters, aching backs, tired knees plus fun and entertainment

TODAY – Tuesday, 12th of October was Day 3 for three separate group ofe trekkers on the trail who set of on the same date – October 10, 2004.

While each of the group are a day ahead of each other because of different trek schedules – inevitably everyone's getting the same kick out of the trail….blisters, aching backs, tired knees – well maybe not so much for the other groups since it is only day three. But there's more to come.

However hard it may seemed, all the trekkers are privileged to have some fun and entertaintment during their walk. All the while they are entertained by our porters and guides who while walking and carrying loads on their back would not resist to sit down and play a song to the tune of their small ukuleles.

Porters also treat their trekkers to a ball of football or volleyball and in doing so involve villagers to be part of the games just for fun.

This afternoon we managed to catch Kingsley on the radio and informed us his group – the fast trek team are now heading down to Kagi. Once there they will pick up their food supply for the the next three days and head on towards Efogi where they are most likely to camp overnight.

Everyones doing great and likely to push through towards Efogi. Kingsley said: "Everyone's are okay…all the trekkers are okay. They enjoy hearing the boys singing and bangin away on their ukulele.

"The sun is up and it seems pretty hot today but the singing makes it even more easier," Kingsley said.

Three more days to go. Good work- keep it up guys!

The beautiful scenery of Kokoda…..Always rewarding – sometimes make one forget how hard it could be..
