THREE more Australian male runners have signed up for the record breaking Rusty's 24-hour Super Kokoda Challenge which takes place in August along the renowned WWII Kokoda Track.

Bryan O'Hara, Sean O'Hara and Robert Drysdale will now join Larry Lawson and two of Australia's world class runners/Orienteers, Troy De Hass and Jim Russell to run the horrendous 96km trail from August 27th to 28th. One new addition was Charles Chambers who booked his place on the trail last night.

The Australians will compete alongside the locals to set a record time of 24 hours in attempt to snatch the title from Brian Freeman who clocked in 24 hours, 59 seconds and 26 seconds to become fastest man ever to have done the track.

The race is expected to begin at around 12:00 midday from Kokoda Station and end at Ower's Corner the next day.

Kokoda Trekking Limited (KTL) trek organizer Gail Thomas who is currently organizing the race said they were expecting a total of 100 male participants for the event.

Currently, six Australians including four Papua New Guineans have submitted their names which brings the number of competitors for the event to ten.

With days slowly passing by and the event date looming ahead you would expect more locals to put in their names, however, these guys will leave it till the last minute.
