MemberTrek 59 – Ross Cochrane?s Trek
All trekkers are doing well; everyone did great yesterday 11th May, including the trekker who sprained her ankle. She said that, she?s feeling ok and no doubt she?s going to make it out, so that good news.
The group spent the night at Templeton?s Crossing 1 and today they will proceed on to their next destination.

Trek 59
What a grinding climb today! Davidson called to confirm their current location was Mt Bellamy – the highest peak on Kokoda Trail. Everyone's battled it out just fine including lady trekker who sprained her ankle on the way.Today will see them heading down towards Efogi 1 where they are likely to spend the night. Davidson will report on their progress towards Efogi 1 but we won't be able to hear from them after they reached the camping area. Well, not till tommorrow 9am by the way.
Trek 65
Nothing as yet from Eric Uwea as he is currently experiencing problems with radio reception. Reception at this stage is not clear. We'll keep you updated on this trek once he calls.12/05/2005 at 3:34 am #95232Jessie Garap

Trek 65- Private Trek
Not 5 minutes ago, the group finally made it to Eora Creek, where they will camp for the night.
Their guide Eric Uwea informed us that, his trekkers are still looking extremely fit and they are all doing incredibly great. There have been no troubles or problems and no ones injured himself/herself, everyone of them is doing fine.
Weather at their end looks ok, it?s cloudy around there though, but there?s no sign of any rain coming.

MemberUpdate 12th May, 2005;
Latest: Trek 59 – Ross Cochrane?s Trek
The group has now reached Efogi 1; they will camp there for the night and continue tomorrow. All trekkers are doing ok, and they are all fine.
As for the trekker with the sprained ankle, she?s holding on pretty well. She say?s physically her ankle is slowing her down, but mentally she?s still strong and she?s got a strong feeling she?s going to make it out.
That?s the latest we heard from her, but whatever decision she comes up with tonight, whether or not she wants to continue. I?ll update you on that tomorrow, but so far she?s done really well.
Weather at their end looks good.

Trek 59: DAY 7
At 9:15 this morning, Eric radioed to confirm their current location was Alola. They are now headed towards Isurava where they are planning to camp for the night.
All trekkers in this group are coping up well with the weather and the grinding climbs on the way – well' at least they won't get any of those once they reached Isurava by the end of today.
It will be a comfortable downhill walk towards Kokoda Station from Isurava tomorrow plus a warm welcome from villagers and everyone else at Russell's Block where the trekkers will be camping with a 'liklik' celebration of the completion of their trek before catching a flight back in Port Moresby the next day -Saturday 14th.

MemberTREK 65: DAY 5
This group left Efogi first this morning and headed toward Brigade Hill. Around 10:40 this morning, their guide Davidson, confirmed they were at the foot of Brigade Hill. They are now currently walking up towards Brigade Hill.
Eveyone seem to be doing well on this trek except the lady with an ankle problem.
She coped up really well with the trek over the last two days and is determined to finish the trek, but her condition now forced the whole trek to slow down a bit.Davidson reported, she is tough physically but would not be able to make it in time with the rest of the trekkers due to her sprained ankle. He said, she could handle climbing but walking downhill was a problem for her.
As I write, Lisa is with her porter at Naduri nursing her injury and both are one day behind from the rest of the group. They were left behind as everyone else pushed on ahead towards Menari. The decision now stands whether she wants to complete the trek or not.
Davidson assessed that she won't be able to make it to Ower's Corner because they still have to conquer the tough climbs and falls before reaching the end of the trek. "I don't think she will be able to make it considering the number of climbs left before we reach Ower's Corner," he said.
But it seems Liza is adamant and has requested that they rest for a while before she decides if she is continuing or not.
Will let you in on that later on…

MemberMeanwhile, Trek 59 has now reached Isurava Battle side where they will be camping for the night. Eric confirmed they arrived at 11:45, so the trekkers are having a look around at the new camping site.
At 11:55, one of the guides in this group, Rod got a call from his family at Kovelo trying to confirm what time they were arriving tommorrow at their vilage on their way to Kokoda so they can prepare some 'Kaikai' (food) for his group and the trekkers.
They confirmed 12pm lunch time was suitable and it seems the everyone will have lunch there before ending their walk in Kokoda. Rod's family have agreed to prepare something for the trekkers including fresh garden fruits and cool & sweet tasting water from the fresh coconut or 'kulau'.

MemberTrek 65 update Saturday 14th September, 2005:
The injured trekker Lisa Harper was airlifted today by helicopter from Naduri and dropped at Nauro where she will wait for the other remaining trekkers to catch up with her later today.
Tomorrow she has a big ask of her as she will walk towards Va'Ule creek where they will overnight tomorrow night. Monday they have a 9 hour walk to make it out to Ower's Corner on Monday.
Seeing as Lisa has shown so such determination to finish her trek we will do everything in our power to help wherever we can even if it means she takes extra time to make it out to Ower's Corner.
As for the other trekkers in this group, we havent heard from our guide today as yet but will post something as soon as we receive an update.
Photograph: myself at Nauro Village Guesthouse where Lisa is presently waiting and resting. With me is my joint venture business partner Russell (Rusty) Eroro from Kokoda who acted as my personal porter during my trek last November:

MemberTrek 65 Update: Have just made contact with Davidson Eroro who is the guide leading this group and he said all remaining trekkers are doing just fine and were at Nauro Creek and were looking forward to meeting up with Lisa later today.
Just one of the messages received from other visitors to our website:
I've been following the saga of Lisa with the sprained ankle on the trail.
I know you would know what would be the best for all concerned when you give
your advice but it might help if you could let her know that people are
following her plight on via the website and we wish her well.Cheers
