Update 1st October 2019

Trek 1170: Trekkers have just touched down in Port Moresby for their trek which will commence tomorrow 2nd October. On this trek will be, Adam Barrett; Damian Shaw; Toby Murphy and guide Pat Vainerere. Our staff will be, Clement Harika, Ivan Semie, Ramsy Idau, Rolanson Umbu, Harry Mendari and Lenny Enjeka.

Update 2nd October 2019

Trek 1170: This trek got away as planned early this morning and have reached their destination of Ua’Ule Creek around 3:30pm this afternoon. I spoke with Pat and he said there was a slight drizzle but its been dry until 5 minutes before he made the call to me. The guys have done well today which is good news. Tomorrow they will have a short day and will head to Ofi Creek for the night.

Update 3rd October 2019

Trek 1170: Pat called to say they are now at Ofi Creek for the night. Tomorrow they will have a big day ahead of them as they walk up Maguli Range and into Nauro Village. They will will cross Brown River and head to Menari for the night. The trekkers were tired from their day yesterday but a short day has allowed them to save some energy for their big walk ahead of them tomorrow.

Update 4th October 2019

Trek 1170: Pat just called and said they did not arrive at Nauro until around midday and then it started to rain. So instead of heading to Menari, a decision was made to stop at Agulogo for the night. Pat said they all felt the climb today but AJ felt it the most. He assured me they were all ok and tomorrow will head to Efogi II for the night.

Update 5th October 2019

Trek 1170: This trek has now reached the half way point of Efogi. It is now being led by Clement Harika as Pat woke up this morning feeling sick and as a result had to stay behind in Agulogo. They are in good hands however, as Clement is a guide in his own right and very confident to keep the trekkers moving towards their end destination of Kokoda.

Update 6th October 2019

Trek 1170: I can see from our GPS that this group are now at 1900/Myola Junction. I have not yet heard from the track but will post an update as soon as they make contact. Pat was airlifted out of Agulogo today and taken to Port Moreby International Hospital and late this afternoon released. Pat will fly back tomorrow to Australia for further tests. In the meantime Clement will now lead this trek along with our other experienced staff. Gary Juary and Lenny Enjeka stayed with Pat and should sometime tonight catch up with the others at 1900.

Update 7th October 2019

Trek 1170: Gary and Lenny caught up with the lead group and Clement just gave me a phone call and update. Last night they stopped at Dump 1 with AJ toughing it out and getting in around 8:30pm. Clement said he is ok just doing it at a slower pace than the others. Today picture them on the move heading towards Templeton’s Creek; Eora Creek; Alola Village before reaching Isurava. Keep going guys, you are now on the final leg of your trek. AJ’s father Bruce touches down in Port Moresby today so that too will be an inspiration to Adam.

Trek 1170: Clement just called to say they have reached Con’s Rock, Isurava Memorial area where they will spend the night. He said it was another hard day but they are all ok and looking forward to walking off the track at approx. 3-3:30pm tomorrow afternoon. Its been a wet track he added.

Update 8th October 2019

Trek 1170: Congratulations are in order as this trek just walked through the Kokoda Archway around 5:30pm this afternoon. Well done to our trekkers and all our crew. It also must have been a thrill for AJ to see his father Bruce waiting for him at the finish line.
