This group spent last night at an area commonly referred to as 'Dump 1'. Today they had a tough day with the plan of stopping at Isurava Memorial for the night. However, several big groups were at the Memorial so our group made the decision to move further down the track to Isurava Village.

Today as they made their way to Isurava Memorial the…[Read more]

Pat phoned me around 8:15am to say they are once again on the move this time heading to Ua'Ule Creek for the night. Yesterday's prediction of 3pm into Ofi Creek was way off mark with 2 trekkers making it into camp around 7pm. The reason is that Andrew is having problems with his feet but is toughing it out so wanting to finish. Troy is doing it…[Read more]

Update 20th April: Have not heard from Pat today but the GPS showed them at Menari around 4:30 so not too sure if they stopped there or kept going to Agulogo. Will update tomorrow as soon as he calls.

Pat phoned in to say they have reached Kagi Village. Apparently a really hard slippery day today, hard yakka. Tomorrow they will reach the half way point of Efogi and head to Brigade Hill; Menari and stop at Agulogo all going well. He remarked everyone is doing well.

This trek have stopped short of their destination of Nauro and are at Ofi Creek for the night. The tent for the couple was dropped off by chopper into Ioribaiwa but no-one informed our guide. Later when he called in on the sat phone I asked did he get the tent and no was the reply. Now one of our porters walked back to Ioribaiwa to collect. No…[Read more]

This trek is now camped for the night at the Alola side of Eora Creek. When talking to Pat on the sat phone I could hear the raging river in the background. Today Troy was out in front and Andrew struggled. All good however, trekkers doing well.

Tomorrow they head to either Kagi or Efogi for the night. Earlier today they were at Isurava…[Read more]

This trek have now reached Ofi Creek where they are camped for the night. We managed to find the missing tent and had it dropped off at Ioribaiwa today by helicopter. Unfortunately though, the group had already reached Ua'Ule Creek and no-one had given them the tent as they passed through the village. End result, one of our porters has now had…[Read more]

Update 17th April: This trek reached their destination of Ua'Ule Creek – all good except one tent was left behind in Port Moresby and one of the trekkers has sore knees so a short day tomorrow to Ofi Creek is the plan. In the meantime we figure out how to get another tent into them as they make their way along the track.

Update 17th April: This trek arrived at isurava Village around 3:15pm this afternoon. All good but Troy had a tough day so decided to hire a personal porter to carry his backpack. Kingsley Boropi was asked to head up to Isurava as an added addition to this trek.

Last night trekkers spent the night at Hoi Village as they wanted to swim in the creek. Picture them this morning as they make their way to the finish line at the Kokoda Archway. Later they will visit the Kokoda War Museum area before making their way down to Popondetta for the night.Kokoda Archway.jpg

Received a sat phone call around 6pm to say they have now reached Isurava Village so all good and heading for the finish line. Its a dry track at the opposite end of their trek so now making good progress. Tomorrow they will head to Kovelo for the night before walking off the track and under the archway in Kokoda on Sunday morning.Isurava Memorial.jpg

Trekkers have now reached Templeton's Crossing. They now have a dry track and are making good progress. Seems they have had the Kokoda Trail to themselves as they make their way towards the finish line. Tomorrow they plan on heading to Isurava Village for the night. No talk about sore knees so trekkers have bounced back and doing well.

    Apparently…[Read more]

Arnold Jinga just called to say they are now at Efogi the half way point. He added, the worst trek he has ever been on. No, he is not talking about the trekkers, all good there, just the conditions. Its wet; the track has overgrown during the off season; bridges have been washed away etc. Today the walk should have taken 4 hours but it took 8…[Read more]
