At 9pm my phone rang and I wondered who it was that could be calling me. It turned out to be Wayne phoning in from Efogi. He said they have had so much fun today that he forgot the time. Received a phone call around 3pm to say they had reached their destination for today, being 1900/Myola Junction. Turns out they met up with the trek heading in the opposite direction at Naduri where they all stopped for a bite to each and a cuppa.SDC10137 640×480.JPG

Trekkers are at 1900/Myola Junction tonight. Apparently they have had a good day and looking forward to reaching the half way mark tomorrow. Emma had a tummy problem today but has come good. All others no problems whatsoever.Walking towards Myola Junction 2 640×480.jpg

Trekkers have now reached Efogi the half way point. Brendan was going to give them a short day today to Menari but a decision was made that it was too early to pull up for the day they they moved on to Efogi.

Trekkers had a wow of a day today having passed through Isurava, then Alola and now they are at Eora Creek. According to Wayne their guide, everyone is doing really well and not even one of them are struggling. Tomorrow the plan is to head to 1900/Myola Junction where some of them may find it quite cold.IMGP2983 1280×768.JPG

Wayne called up earlier this afternoon to say the group are now at Isurava Village and that all trekkers did really well today which is good news.

I think this is the first trek where we have had two doctors and a medic all on the one trek.

Trekkers have now reached Ofi Creek where they are camped for the night. Tomorrow they will head to Agulogo. The porter we hired from Sogeri caught up with the group at Ua'Ule Creek so all is good and they should start to move forward at a faster rate.Climbing up from Ofi Creek 640×480.jpg

Trekkers arrived back in Port Moresby around 9am this morning and came to our base for a short while before heading to various hotels for the night. I took the opportunity of taking this photograph, refer below.

Trekkers have reached Deniki and are now on the move towards their destination for the day being Isurava Village. All trekkers are doing well it seems.Deniki 3 640×480.JPG

Its 8am as I type this and Wayne has just advised that they are now on the track having just walked through the Kokoda archway. The plan today is to reach Isurava Village where they will stop for the night. Today they have ahead of them what is commonly referred to by the boys as 'TEST MOUNTAIN'. Update Tuesday 18th Sept: Trekkers reached Imita Ridge around 7:30am this morning. They have a tough day ahead of them today as they move towards Naoro. It will depend on how they are doing as their guide may decide to pull up at Ofi Creek for the night or push through to Naoro. Trekkers are about to board their flight from Popondetta to Port Moresby.

I was informed they arrived in Kokoda approximately 11:30am where our staff had been preparing their lunch. Later as mentioned they went for a walk up to the Kokoda Station and then rested before their meal tonight at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.IMGP2891 640×480.JPG

The group were met in Popondetta by their guide Wayne Urina Tihimi who is one of our most popular guides. Wayne also holds the record as the second fastest man on the track in 18:34 in the direction from Owers' Corner to Kokoda. Congratulations are in order as trekkers walked off the track around 2pm this afternoon and are now relaxing at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

They join our group of 11 who flew in today and who will commence their trek tomorrow so no doubt are sharing stories at Orohaven right now.

Trekkers have now reached Isurava where they are spending the night. According to Trevor, all continue to do well and will walk off the track tomorrow into Kokoda around 3pm.

As we have another group of 11 heading over to Orohaven tomorrow, they will no doubt be able to inform them about the track.
