McKenzie called in from Menari tonight to inform me they did not move on to Agulogo and decided to stop there for the night.

Earlier today they would have stopped at Brigade Hill before reaching Menari which is always a moving moment for trekkers as they reflect on what happened there during the war.Menari River.JPG

Just going to add some general tips about cameras in less-than-ideal-conditions since I've seen people asking in other threads:

    Digital Compact Cameras

These are probably my recommended choice for taking photos on trek. Most reasonably priced compacts are rather cheap nowadays ($200-400 AUD) for something decent. A 1GB card is plenty for the…

    Perrys Lookdown.

Its just outside of Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. We did it a couple of times while preparing for our trek. Try and do it in the heat of summer for the true PNG effect.

The group are now on the home stretch after walking through Efogi earlier today being the half way point. They are now settled in for the night at Menari Village.

After walking off from Efogi they would have had a climb up to Brigade Hill where no doubt they reflected back on what happened in this area during the war.

Two more nights on the…[Read more]

Think of trekkers today as they climb, climb, climb, up, up, up to Isurava Village. Locals refer to the climb as 'test mountain'. After reaching this point, they will then move on to Isurava Memorial which is always a highlight of any walk across the Kokoda Trail.
