Trekkers have a relaxing day today hanging out in Kokoda. Tomorrow morning they will be flown back into Port Moresby.

Earlier today they all went for a walk up to the Kokoda Station area before returning to our base in Kokoda at Orohaven.Orohaven H.JPG

Heard from Wayne that this trek has now reached Menari Village. All trekkers continue to do well. Tomorrow they will head to Naduri Village.

Trekkers have now reached the half way point of Efogi. According to Trevor earlier today, they continue to do well.

I asked about the weather and he replied that its been wet and a bit muddy on the Kokoda side.

Trevor called in today to report they had reached 1900/Myola Junction where they are camped for the night.

The previous night they stopped as planned at Eora Creek.

Wayne the guide for this trek called me tonight to say they had reached their destination of Ofi Creek.

Congratulations are in order for this trek as they ended up walking off the track today, 1 day ahead of schedule due to the congestion of the campsites all the way from Deniki, Hoi.

Trekkers are on the move and have now reached Imita Ridge. They will continue their walk and according to their guide Wayne Urina Tihimi, the plan is to reach Ofi Creek this afternoon where they will set up camp for the night.

Following their drive up from Popondetta to Kokoda it was decided that they would overnight at Orohaven our base in Kokoda, and commence their walk this morning instead.

This morning around 6:30 I received a phone call to say they were heading off and hoped to make Isurava Village today.IMGP1457 1280×768.JPG

Have not heard from Ernst today but am assuming they must have stopped for the night around the Templeton area.

We stayed at the Gateway and they look after passport,cash etc in an envelope that you sign in/out and is put in their safe

As for baggage it was stored in a luggage room which took awhile to get back as nothing happens quickly at the hotel – like I said PNG time

Following Efogi, trekkers stayed at 1900 for the night. This morning I received a sat phone from Horace saying they stopped last night at Eora Creek.

This morning they were on the move and were heading to Alola and then to Isurava Memorial for lunch. The plan today is to stop at Hoi where they will spend their last night on the track.

Hi Tony, thanks so much for the additional information. I understand KTL will be very busy now.

I'd love to hear where your Moresby accommodation is and how you find out. Security of luggage etc is also key.

Im 14 days away from my Trek, we get into Moresby at 1630 and Gail has told us we probably wont go out to the Lodge as they don't like to travel at night or late afternoon! They will put us into Accommodation in Moresby and we will head out to Owers first thing next morning! I do believe all transfers will be done by Kokoda Trekking…[Read more]
