All I can say is "What fantastic advice provided by Gail!"

Gail has been so involved with the Kokoda Track, the History, her staff, her community imput, her business parteners, especially Russell, her Sons, Nathan & Shane over so many years that her advice is just so solid and would be trekkers should just print this out and adhere to it, it is…[Read more]

Perhaps this would be a good option, as we took an alternative site, a 'motel' in town and it was quite poor and we checked out for our last night in Moresby and had a wonderful night courtesy of the Gateway.

But as I said, perhaps the Sogeri before you head off for your trek.

Great work Dan, a very thoughtful and well documented preparation sheet. I will take more time to read it and the responses more in detail, but congratulations on the lay out.

Simon and our boys have now reached an area referred to as 'Dump 1'. They fell behind due to Winton's injury but have now made up time and on track to walk off the track as per schedule. I got to talk to Simon and he seems to be really enjoying his walk. He was happy to hear about his father and the fact he will wait for him to finish and they…[Read more]

Winton Graham twisted his ankle and was airlifted off the track at Agulogo around 3:45pm. His son Simon continued on and should reach Brigade Hill for the night. Clement and Winton's personal porter Deshon have now commenced walking to catch up to the lead group. I spoke to Winton, he is ok but just cannot continue his walk.Agulogo2.JPGAgulogo…[Read more]

Clement called in today to say they spent the first night at Goodwater and last night at Ioribaiwa. It seems its been raining and the track is quite slippery so they are just taking it slow. Today they are trying to reach Agulogo but may stop at Naoro instead.

Both trekkers are doing ok.Naoro1 640×480.jpgBoys walking up to Naoro 640×480.jpg

Sadly Brian Beamish passed away on the 9th August, 2014 after a long illness. I attended his funeral in Brisbane to pay our respects to Maureen and his family. Co-incidentally on the day he was cremated it was Wallace Lemeki's 36th birthday.

RIP Brian, we loved taking you on the track for your 70th birthday and the many posts you have made…[Read more]

9th August: Sad news this morning, Brian Beamish passed away yesterday afternoon 8th August. Sadly we have lost one of our trekking family, a person so passionate about Kokoda and its people. Even on a pension, Brian and Maureen managed somehow to send small gifts to Scott, his guide Wallace's son on a yearly basis.

This trek has now arrived at Hoi Village where they have settled in for the night. Tomorrow they will walk off the track into Kokoda around 10am.

More than likely they spent part of the afternoon relaxing in the creek like past trekkers enjoying a refreshing dip.Group Pic HOi 640×480.jpgHoi 640×480.jpgHoi Village 2 640×480.jpg
