When I met with the group yesterday at the airport, there were smiles all round as they talked about their time on the track plus their adventure of yesterday. On the way up to Sogeri Lodge to pick up Heather's bag, it was clear they all bonded together as a team and had a fantastic time. Turned out our boys were also impressed with Michael and…[Read more]

They are now heading for Isurava so should hear from them later today. The last couple of days they have been down low so its not uncommon unless they have an emergency to receive calls especially if they are taking a bit longer during the day which I believe they are due to them taking it at a slow pace, one foot after the other. Will post as…[Read more]

Everyone took their place and it was soon time to walk off. The food porters moved off first closely followed by personal porters and their trekkers and last off the ranks is the guide Trevor Jinga.IMGP0118__640x480_.JPGIMGP0119__640x480_.JPGIMGP0123__640x480_.JPGIMGP0124__640x480_.JPG

Patience however was on our side and it was not too long before they were all lined up at the starting blocks, being the archway at…[Read more]

At Owers' Corner the boys had a surprise waiting for David as we heard yesterday that it was his birthday! On our arrival, our Kokoda Trekking staff gathered around and sang him not one but two 'Happy Birthday' songs. David then cut the chocolate cake that was waiting for him. Heather decided not to have any but the others tucked in along with…[Read more]

I had read quite a lot of books regarding the Battles fought along the Kokoda Track. There is plenty of evidence still remaining of the battle, including fox holes and pieces of equipment. There is even the wreckage of a B 25 Mitchell bomber with an unexploded 500 pound bomb next to it.
