Just when I thought all the food porters had gone I turned around to see Sione sitting, resting, waiting for Andrew to repack some of his things into his pack. Just take a look at the size of the knife he is carrying!IMGP0236__640x480_.JPG

It was decided that the food porters lead off closely followed by those carrying their own packs (all the males), then last but not least, Esther and her personal porter who came 3rd in this year's Kokoda Challenge Race, Horace Yauga. He is also a younger brother of Andrew their…[Read more]

It was soon time to bid our farewell's to trek 756 as they set off down their first descent towards Goldie River. The comments around this time at 9:30am yesterday was the question, IS IT ALWAYS THIS HOT!!!! so it would appear they were already sweating just getting photographed at the starting point of their walk.bye bye trek…[Read more]

Whenever Sione is on the track he likes to sing the PNG National Anthem and asks trekkers to sing their Australian National Anthem to link together the two countries before they commence their walk. Here Sione can be seen playing his guitar and singing the anthem with such pride.IMGP0223__640x480_.JPGIMGP0224__640x480_.JPG

We could not leave Esther out and it was soon her turn to line up under the archway – the smile says it all – does she look happy or what?IMGP0226__640x480_.JPGIMGP0225__640x480_.JPG

Under the archway photographs were about to the taken when I was advised there was (3) sets of brothers so it was decided they each have a set taken:IMGP0215__640x480_.JPGIMGP0214__640x480_.JPGIMGP0216__640x480_.JPGIMGP0217__640x480_.JPGIMGP0221__640x480_.JPGIMGP0220__640x480_.JPG

At Owers' Corner Esther got to meet up with personal porter Horace Yauga. Horace then started adding his own gear to her pack and along with other trekkers and our food porters prepared to head off from under the archway.IMGP0211__640x480_.JPGIMGP0212__640x480_.JPGIMGP0213__640x480_.JPG

Not long arrived back home after meeting up with Vince and Kristie whose plane was delayed out of Popondetta. Instead of arriving at 9am they arrived after 11 and then after a short talk, they went straight to the International Terminal building to book in for their flight to Australia.Well done to both of them. They looked well and appeared…[Read more]

Thanks Matt, I'm feeling better about wearing them now but maybe I'll go with black rather than pink. lol I have boots however I dont feel confident in them at all. Thats the great thing with the Vibrams, you are able to use your toes for extra grip and at least have some control. I'll check out the socks, not sure which ones I have at the…[Read more]

Congratulations to Vince and Kristie as they walked off the track today into Kokoda. The last I heard was that they were relaxing at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. Tomorrow they will be driven down to Popondetta to catch their flight back to Port Moresby. Well done! IMGP2880__640x480_.JPG

Millymoo, I found that the vibrams were just as good as any of the boots being worn by the other Trekkers when it came to the mud. On steep decents they can be prone to slipping if you keep your feet straight and land on the balls of your feet as the tread is slightly angled backwards. But if you angle your foot out or in slightly they were…[Read more]

Hi Matt C, I'm thinking about wearing my TrekSports when we do Kokoda next August/September. I love them! How did you find them in the mud and on steep decents? Oh and which injinji socks would you recommend?

Trekkers are now heading for home and although I have not heard from them today, they should be at Eora Creek tonight. According to a trek that came off the track this afternoon, they have had a bit of rain over the other side towards the Kokoda end of the track. Tomorrow they should reach Isurava Monument area and then head down to Isurava…[Read more]

Trekkers were on the move very early this morning as it turned out they ended up at Agulogo so would have had a bit of catching up to do.I did not catch up with Kingsley but our other guide on another trek Eric Uwea phoned me and gave me the track report on behalf of both groups.Eric said both groups were doing just great with no worries…[Read more]

Heard from Eric today a couple of hours after they left Agulogo and he said they were all ok and were heading for Efogi. Apparently last night both of our groups spent the night together at Agulogo.
